This is still a great mod for a cheap wheel, but not exactly easy. Mine was just some piece of crap plastic gear that I got from a hobby shop in the nearby city. Best thing to do is, get the gear level and place the bit you are using perpendicular to each other (drill press or anything fixed is ideal) and just turn the chuck/bit by hand until the task is done. When boreing out the 9 tooth gear, don't use power tools or anything with high rpm. Most of those cars have an actual steering wheel lock of 540 anyways. I have only managed to get 540 degrees rotation from this setup so far yet, kind of dissipointed but its really great for racing GTRs on Live for Speed, some GT2 cars and single seaters.

I just made the one stop center over the column (by putting a piece of plastic on the upper cover with some Plastic Weld epoxy, and welded a straight tab on existing ring.

when you get the gear mod done the best thing to do, is just cut off the tabs on the metal ring around the column, or dismantle the column and remove the ring altogether. Hey, I've not been on here for a long time, working insane hours these days.
